Notchwake FAQ

Short answers about Notchwake, the app that turns the notch of your Mac into an island.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The trial lasts 7 days and includes every feature, nothing locked. No account is needed, and during the trial the app makes no license requests.

How much does it cost?

Two plans: US$ 1.99 a month (cancel anytime) or a lifetime license for US$ 12.99. Payment and the license key come from our secure checkout.

Which macOS does it need?

macOS 14 or newer, on Apple silicon or Intel.

Summarize and Rewrite in the clipboard, the Apple Intelligence menu in text fields, the plain sentence on permission requests, the day summary and Ask the island need macOS 26 with Apple Intelligence turned on. Without it, everything else works the same.

Does it work on a Mac without a notch?

Yes. On a Mac without a notch, or on an external monitor, the idle island is a thin handle at the top of the screen and becomes a pill when something is happening. On any Mac you can also drag the closed island to the left or right edge to dock it as a side tab.

Which music apps work?

Apple Music and Spotify. The island shows the track, the cover and the controls, but only for an app that is already open; macOS asks for your permission the first time.

Up next (the following tracks of the playlist) works with Apple Music only, because Spotify does not share its queue. Synced lyrics are optional and off by default.

Can I see Google Calendar?

Notchwake reads the calendars that macOS itself has, the same ones as Calendar.app. It does not sign in to Google.

To see Google events, add your Google account in System Settings, Internet Accounts, with Calendars turned on. Once the events show up in Calendar.app, they show up in the island too. Calendars you untick in Notchwake stay hidden.

Which permissions does it ask for, and why?

Calendar and Reminders for the agenda, Automation for Music and Spotify, and a few optional ones (Bluetooth, camera, microphone, screen recording) only when you use the feature. Every one is optional: what you do not allow simply does not appear. The full list is in the permissions guide.

Does it collect data?

No telemetry, no account, no analytics and no project server. What the app reads stays on your Mac. The only network calls are optional ones (Spotify artwork, plan percentage, weather, synced lyrics, update check) and the license check with the license service once you activate a key.

Does it approve agent permissions on its own?

Never. It answers only when you click, and any failure, timeout or doubt returns the decision to the terminal.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are available within 7 days of purchase.
